Echinacea

Coneflowers at Forest Park’s Jewel Box. This is an area around the Jewel Box’s reflecting pools and one of Forest Park’s very scenic areas. I wanted to say something about this flower for this post but had little idea what it was. With the magic of Google, I looked up “daisy with big center” and […]

Sunshine

After walking around Forest Park’s Jewel Box greenhouse, I found these lilies interesting. The were an number of floral displays around  the area but these water lilies are worth stopping by to take a look if you live in the area.

Lilies

Forest Park’s Jewel Box green house has three reflection pools which are filled with various types of lilies like these. The whole area was buzzing with Dragonflies so capturing on in a photo like this was not very difficult. I have been visiting this landmark for 65 years and in never ceases to be interesting. […]

Jewel Box

The Jewel Box was dedicated Nov. 14, 1936 and cost about $117,000, with about 45 percent coming from Public Works Administration (WPA) funds. It was designed by city engineer William C. E. Becker and Robert Paulus Construction Co. was the contractor. […]

A walk in Forest Park

This is an interesting intersection in St. Louis’ Forest Part where walking paths, a foot bridge and stream intersect. This time of year the flowers start to bloom making it a popular place to be. Our dogs love to come here to explore and walk in the stream. However, crossing the swaying suspension bridge is […]

7,000 Flags

7,000 flags flying over Art Hill in St. Louis; Forest Park. This is one of several flag memorials in front of the the Art Museum displayed over the past few years. These displays have memorialized those that have fallen during terror attacks or fighting terrorists.

Park Benches

The winter of 2019 has been particularly snowy giving St. Louisans beautiful vistas and icy roads. These benches overlook Forest Park’s Grand Basin and in the upper right hand corner of the photo you can see people sledding on Forest Park’s famous Art Hill. Any time of year, this is a popular place.

Forest Park Bridge

If you explore around Forest Park in St. Louis you will find this scenic suspension bridge just east of the Grand Basin. This was a very cold morning after a light snow in St. Louis. The fresh snow made for some great photographs..

Nathan Frank Bandstand

It snowed last night so I thought I would go to Forest Park this morning to take a few photos. The Nathan Frank Bandstand in front of the Municipal Opera is always a good subject and this morning it looked great! This is a three shot HDR photo edited in Lightroom and Aurora. Not much […]
