On our way out to Green Bay we passed this moored sail boat in Fish Creek Harbor. While Fall is a quieter time in Door County there were still a few sailboats out in the channel taking advantage of a beautiful day. This photo has been edited by a program to make it more likeContinue reading “Sail Boat, Fish Creek Harbor”

Fading of the Golden Hour
Last rays of sunshine transition from a colorful sunset to the blue sky of dusk. North Bay in Wisconsin shelters the waters of Lake Michigan so you have a slow rolling surf able to reflect the colorful sky. A special time to take photographs is during the “golden hour,” 30 minutes before and after sunset.Continue reading “Fading of the Golden Hour”
Pottery Shop
One of the many home type shops in Door County. This is a nice pottery shop near Ellison Bay centered around an old farm.
Top Deck
Top Deck Restaurant on the grounds of Gordon Lodge. When in Door County, Wisconsin, this should be a #1 spot for dinner. For being on the east side of the peninsula, it has wonderful view of the sunset. The evening we had dinner there, there was a continuous orange glow on the horizon. This isContinue reading “Top Deck”
Chaumette
Missouri has a long history of being a first class wine producing state. The St. Louis area has many great wineries near-by and this is one of my favorite. Chaumette Vinyards and Winery is located in scenic Ste. Genevieve county and features great wine, dining and “chalets” for overnight stays. This is the main buildingContinue reading “Chaumette”
Shaw Home Projection
In a unique exhibit at the Missouri Botanical Garden, graphics were projected onto the Henry Shaw home on the grounds. This sight and sound event was quite an experience. Here photography is allowed but no tripods. A group of us were lucky enough to photograph with tripods so I could capture this photo at night.Continue reading “Shaw Home Projection”
Road to the future
A path coming out of the Missouri Botanical Garden’s Climatron makes an interesting scene. The Garden was specially lit for an event they called Flora Borialis featuring laser light displays and and speakers throughout the park for special sound effects. This all made for an eerie walk in the park. https://greatrivers.smugmug.com/Galleries/Missouri-Botanical-Garden/i-ZRd5dcM/A

Archways at Missouri Botanical Garden’s Flora Borealis
Several times a year the Botanical Garden hosts these extensive displays. Flora Borealis is a dramatic light and sound show that winds around the grounds featuring laser lights and an extensive sound system. I had the opportunity to tour the grounds with other photographers and a special guide that showed us photographic opportunities. If youContinue reading “Archways at Missouri Botanical Garden’s Flora Borealis”
Sunflowers
Sunny Sunflowers always seem to make an interesting picture. I have been keeping a lookout for several years for a local patch and found these at Columbia Bottoms nature preserve in St. Louis County, MO. This is right at the confluence of the Mississippi and Missouri rivers which makes it a special area.
