This is Kiener Plaza in St. Louis. More significantly, the building in the background is the Old Courthouse, built between 1839 and 1862. The Courthouse is the site where an enslaved husband and wife, Dred and Harriet Scott, sued for their freedom, and Virginia Minor sued for a woman’s right to vote in 1872. Forest Park Suspension Bridge
Forest Park in St. Louis is so nicely maintained that it even looks great in the winter. This is an old footbridge along the waterways that run through the Park. This bridge sways so much that my Basset Hounds refuse to walk on it! This was taken at sunset (50mm, f6.3, 1/250 sec).
Hodgson Water Mill

Alley Spring Mill
I thought I would explore Missouri for one of those scenic old mills. I found this in a place called Alley Spring, near Eminence, Missouri on the Jack’s Fork river. This is a single shot photo processed in Lightroom 5.
Henry Shaw Home
Here is one more photo from Missouri Botanical Garden’s “Garden Glow.” This is Henry Shaw’s home on the Botanical Garden grounds. The grounds are decorated with light displays for the holiday season (see previous posts). http://greatrivers.smugmug.com/Missouri-Botanical-Garden/i-GrL5ZPS/A
The road to the Climatron
Like the road to OZ, this scenic path is part of the Missouri Botanical Garden’s Garden Glow exhibit. Sections of the grounds are decorated with lights and are open to the public to wander wherever they wanted. This is a three shot HDR photo processed in Photmatix and Lightroom. Except for light displays, the pathsContinue reading “The road to the Climatron”

I drove to Kirkwood late in the afternoon to photograph the station at sunset. This photo was taken well after sunset and the resulting photo was dark with a few highlights showing. However, I used theContinue reading “Kirkwood Station”
