If you explore around Forest Park in St. Louis you will find this scenic suspension bridge just east of the Grand Basin. This was a very cold morning after a light snow in St. Louis. The fresh snow made for some great photographs..

Nathan Frank Bandstand
It snowed last night so I thought I would go to Forest Park this morning to take a few photos. The Nathan Frank Bandstand in front of the Municipal Opera is always a good subject and this morning it looked great! This is a three shot HDR photo edited in Lightroom and Aurora. Not muchContinue reading “Nathan Frank Bandstand”
Trolley in Forest Park
A photo of the Loop Trolley is edited to look like a painting. Some of the interesting things you can do with editing software.
Fall in the Park
One of the more spectacular areas in Forest Park is the Grand Basin with it’s 8 fountains and the Art Museum towering above. However, I like this quite area just to the east of the Basin. This is one of two waterways that allow you to take a paddle boat to the Grand Basin andContinue reading “Fall in the Park”
Pagoda
I spent some time in Forest Park this weekend taking photos. If you are walking around with a camera there are unlimited opportunities for interesting photos. This is the park’s Muny Opera and pagoda, a beautifully designed area. In this photo, the sun has set and the lights have just come on.

However, as you walk around the edges of the lake, you can catch a glimpse of the World’s Fair Pavilion in the distance. This photo is a three shot HDR photoContinue reading “World’s Fair Pavilion”

Louis IX
Forest Park’s, and perhaps St. Louis’s, most famous statue is of Louis IX of France. This photo was taken in front of the St. Louis Art Museum early after sunset. To get the photo, a tripod was used and camera settings of 100 ISO, 18mm, f18 with the lens open for 13 seconds. The f18Continue reading “Louis IX”
Go back!
If there is a particular subject that you like, I suggest you go back multiple times to photograph it. The more you study a subject, the better your understanding of how to photograph it. One of my favorite subjects is a suspension bridge in St. Louis’ Forest Park. Below is a series ranging from 2008Continue reading “Go back!”
