It snowed last night so I thought I would go to Forest Park this morning to take a few photos. The Nathan Frank Bandstand in front of the Municipal Opera is always a good subject and this morning it looked great! This is a three shot HDR photo edited in Lightroom and Aurora. Not muchContinue reading “Nathan Frank Bandstand”

Loop Trolley
An eclectic entrepreneur in my home town of University City (part of St. Louis, MO), thought it would be a great idea to run a trolley up and down our downtown area. 50 million dollars (of taxpayer money) later they have two of these running. The “Loop Trolleys” are now running, taking us back toContinue reading “Loop Trolley”
New Kiener Plaza
The new Kiener Plaza opens this space while giving the nice view of the Old Courthouse and Arch. It was pretty cold this day so there were not many people in the new area. This view gives a nice perspective of the leading lines of the pavement directing the view to the Arch. https://greatrivers.smugmug.com/Galleries/Portfolio/i-wSMkw3f/A
New view of Downtown St. Louis is available through arch grounds rennovation
https://greatrivers.smugmug.com/Galleries/Portfolio/i-CGNtmRb/A Cityscapes provide a nice view of metropolitan areas. For Kansas City, a great place to photograph the city is from their World War I memorial. Built on a high hill, your get a spectacular view of their Union Station with their downtown in the background. With the renovation of the Gateway Arch grounds, youContinue reading “New view of Downtown St. Louis is available through arch grounds rennovation”
Reflecting pool
The St. Louis Arch grounds have been totally redesigned with an expansion of the underground museum and some enhanced vistas. This is one of two reflecting pools which seem to be as they were in the past. The Arch and its grounds are interesting subjects for photographers of all skills. https://greatrivers.smugmug.com/Galleries/Portfolio/i-kCt4435/A
Fall in the Park
One of the more spectacular areas in Forest Park is the Grand Basin with it’s 8 fountains and the Art Museum towering above. However, I like this quite area just to the east of the Basin. This is one of two waterways that allow you to take a paddle boat to the Grand Basin andContinue reading “Fall in the Park”
New Kiener Plaza
St. Louis Downtown’s Kiener Plaza. The Plaza just had a complete remake leaving only the statue. This great view includes the plaza, the Old Courthouse and the Arch. A wide lens allows you to get up close to the fountain while including the buildings and arch. Also this photo was taken well after sunset givingContinue reading “New Kiener Plaza”
World’s Fair Pavilion
A walk around St. Louis’ Forest Park can always be rewarding for photographers. This is the park’s “Grand Basin” which normally frames the Art Museum. However, as you walk around the edges of the lake, you can catch a glimpse of the World’s Fair Pavilion in the distance. This photo is a three shot HDR photoContinue reading “World’s Fair Pavilion”
St. Louis Skyline
Here is one more photo of the Arch and the St. Louis skyline showing a spectacular view towards Clayton and St. Louis County.
St. Louis
Yesterday I had the opportunity to tour our riverfront by Helicopter. Since the purpose was to photograph the area, we flew “doors off” so we could hang out for good shots. Included in this photo is downtown St. Louis, the Gateway Arch, Eads’ Bridge, the Stan Musial Bridge and the Mississippi River. On the horizonContinue reading “St. Louis”
