Five Mile Creek School House

If you drive in rural areas you can still find one room schoolhouses. Here is a well maintained example in northern Michigan. Interestingly the school yard is now a vineyard for a neighboring winery. Click on the photo to enlarge.

Public Pier

I like this photo of the Harbor Springs public dock with the two ladies taking iPhone pictures of the yachts and the sun setting through the rain clouds. Everyone comes out after dinner just to see what is going on.

Old Dock

Sailing is a popular activity in Harbor Springs. Here is a group of sailboats around an old dock.

Lighthouse Steps

When visiting sea shores or the Great Lakes, be sure to locate local lighthouses. In most cases you can tour them and go up to the light. The view is worth the time.

Flower Lantern

This summer’s Lantern Festival, held at the Missouri Botanical Garden, offers great opportunities to take some great photographs. Here is a simple flower taken in the dark. https://greatrivers.smugmug.com/Galleries/Missouri-Botanical-Garden/i-WfCnpLF/A

McGulpin Point Lighthouse

While visiting Northern Michigan, I had to check out some of the lighthouses along the shore. This is the McGilpin Point Lighthouse just west of the Mackinac Bridge. It is now a museum where you are able to check out the living quarters and climb up to the light.

Sailing School

Last week I visited some old friends in the resort town of Harbor Springs in Michigan. Every day you would find the kids learning to sail. Here are a few boats waiting for the students.
