This is part of the AKC Museum of the Dog in Queeny Park. If you look off to the right, you can see the constellation Canis Major (which contains the Dog Star, Sirius) above the main entrance to the museum. This day I was with a bunch Basset Hound lovers checking out the museum and and raising money for a Basset rescue group. This was the home of Edgar Queeny, son of the founder of Monsanto and who donated his property to St. Louis County for the creation of this fabulous park.
This is a photo I took about four years ago in St. Louis’ City Garden, a sculpture park in the downtown area. The critics are my two Basset Hounds, Lolly and Clementine.
This park is full of interesting things to photograph. I will be returning later this week, watch here for the results.
Every year I am honored to be the photographer for Guardian Angel Basset Rescue’s “Photographs with Santa” at St. Louis’ Museum of the Dog. This is a fun event where dog owners line-up to have their Best Friends photographed. This produced one of those classic photos shown here.
Guardian Angel (GABR) is a very successful Basset rescue organization in the Midwest. Every year they host the Illinois Waddle in Dwight, Illinois (just Southwest of Chicago), a two day event where a 1,000 Bassets gather to have fun and gather in the street. This is something you have to see to believe. If you do not have a Basset, you can stop by the event in September and pick-up one!
