This blog, Great Rivers Imaging, comes from the heart of the nation. The confluence of the Mississippi, Missouri and Illinois rivers is just a few miles north of this photo. This outcrop on a bluff overlooking the Mississippi is a great place to observe it all!

Spring Petals
Time for a Spring visit to Missouri’s Botanical Garden. If you look carefully you will find little ponds like this. Hidden in the rocks of the Japanese Garden, this is an interesting little fountain.

Morning on the Mississsippi
Early morning on the Mississippi. This is a scene from a retreat facility in southern St. Louis County. Set on a bluff above the river, the view extends for miles. Those that get up early enough, are rewarded by this spectacular scene.
This was taken at: 17mm, ISO 320, f2.8, 1/125sec. This s a three shot HDR processed in Photomatix and Lightroom.

White House Retreat
Beautiful old buildings make good subjects for photography. This is a Catholic Retreat Center in South St. Louis County. Since 1922, White House has been offering 3 day preached retreats throughout the year on a beautiful 80 acre campus located on the bluffs of the Mississippi River. With the Easter holiday right around the corner, I thought this would be a good photo to post.
This is a three shot HDR photo which brings out the nice color and clouds. It is finished in Topaz Impression to give it the painting effect.

Big Cedar Lodge
It is my goal to photograph unique places in the Midwest for my followers. Big Cedar Lodge has to be the unique of the unique! Over the next week I will be posting images from this resort and affiliate areas. Big Cedar has a marina, a bunch of fabulous restaurants, waterfalls everywhere, golf, caves and much more! From this photo you can see how beautiful the grounds are.
Be sure to follow this blog to see this exotic place.
Kansas City Union Station
Part II of the previous photo. Taken late night from a suite at the Crown Center Hotel. Note the empty parking lot and streets. This is a three shot HDR photo using a coffee table as a tripod. For infomation on HDR photography Click Here.
Kansas City
While in Kansas City for a meeting, I checked into the hotel. Asked if I had a floor preference, I told them the higher the better (always like a view). The clerk handed me the key (card) and up I went and found that I had been given a suite for the price of the discounted meeting price! I thought I would share the view.
This is a three shot HDR photo using an ISO of 200 at f7.1, 24mm and an average shutter speed of 6 seconds. A table was used as the tripod.
Wilson’s Restaurant
Just around the corner from the Moravia Street Cottage mentioned in the previous post is Ephraim’s iconic Wilson’s Restaurant in Door County. Famous for their ice cream, this is a great place to stop for lunch, desert or both! Then, down the road is Al Johnson’s Restaurant where they have live goats on the roof (be careful when you go in, you do not want to be hit by anything falling out of the sky!).
