Today there are “12 couples” (24 Bassets) in field including Missouri’s Three Creek Basset Pack and Okaw Valley Foot Bassets from Ohio. Awards are given toContinue reading “Out with her trusty hound”

St. Louis Riverfront
Opened in 1874, Eads Bridge was the first bridge erected across the Mississippi south of the Missouri River. Earlier bridges were located north of the Missouri, where the Mississippi is smaller. None of the earlier bridges survive; Eads Bridge is the oldest bridge on the river. Also, the Eads Bridge is no longer a primaryContinue reading “St. Louis Riverfront”
Fred
Fred taking it easy in St. Louis’ Forest Park. I miss Fred and his sister Ethel. I met them when I offered to take them off the hands of a friend that found them in her yard. They had no tags, no names. I am involved with a Basset Rescue Group called Guardian Angel BassetContinue reading “Fred”
Spiral Staircase
I always liked this scene of the back door to a local hunt club. The lower level is a living room area with a large fireplace in the center. The spiral staircase leads up to a children’s playroom. The front of the property is on a bluff overlooking the Missouri River and the clubhouse isContinue reading “Spiral Staircase”
Are you ready for Christmas?

Every Christmas season they decorate the grounds for an event called the “Garden Glow.” As always this is an extravaganza of sights and sounds. You can follow the trails around the grounds for one amazing holiday scene after another.Continue reading “Are you ready for Christmas?”

Authentic deep moldings and ornate woodwork are unique to the original structure. The east side was the servants’ wing in Shaw’s time. The house has undergone many changes over the years.Continue reading “Henry Shaw Home”
Garden Glow
https://greatrivers.smugmug.com/Galleries/Missouri-Botanical-Garden/i-rP6V9zv/A The Missouri Botanical Garden in St. Louis goes all out during the Christmas season with lights, sound and displays. This is a display of lights synchronized to Christmas music with the Climatron in the background. Much of the background music is from the movie “Home Alone” which sets a very memorable Christmas scene.
Christmas Lights
https://greatrivers.smugmug.com/Galleries/Missouri-Botanical-Garden/i-KRvL75g/A This is fun building on the grounds of the Missouri Botanical Gardens. This gatehouse was constructed in 1895 in accordance with Henry Shaw’s will, which provided a residence for the groundskeeper of the mausoleum, museum building, and surrounding area. During the the Christmas season it is worth exploring to find some hidden displays.
Kirkwood Station
The Kirkwood station is a busy place with families traveling to meet with friends and family for the holidays. This photo was something of a surprise. When this was taken, the sun was down and it was dark outside. Three exposures were taken, one under exposed, one over exposed and one at standard exposure. TheseContinue reading “Kirkwood Station”
