In 2009 the St. Louis Zoo had Penguin Walks on Sundays when the temperature was below 50 degrees. They would open the doors and let any penguin that wanted to go out and mingle with visitors, head on out. Of course it was the “show offs” that wanted to go. This made everything very entertaining.Continue reading “St. Louis Zoo Penguin Walk”

Cold Morning in the Park
Lots of snow and ice in St. Louis over the past few days and more coming. While it makes lift difficult here, it makes for a beautiful landscape and slows life down a little bit.
Basset in the snow!
More snow on the way today (they say). Even with their low stature, they loved to plow through it! And when they run they can get snow to fly everywhere!
Snowfall in Forest Park
Nice weather in St. Louis for Thanksgiving in St. Louis but winter is on its way! The snow here was falling pretty hard and the ducks did not have a chance to shake it off; a flap of the wings would have done the trick. This iconic scene is in the middle of St. Louis’Continue reading “Snowfall in Forest Park”
Winter at Pagoda Circle
On a snow day, Forest Park is an interesting place to explore. Everything looks different, the water is a little calmer and the ducks are hunkering down on the lakes.
Snowy bridge

Geese
With snow predicted, I thought it might be a good day to go out to Forest Park and see if there was anything to photograph. The geese and ducks seemed to be settled in due to the bad weather but the big white goose seemed intent on following me as walked along the shore. ThisContinue reading “Geese”
Cold Night on Beale
Beale Street in Memphis. Home of BB King’s Blues Club, Tater Red’s Lucky Mojos, Pork with an attitude and much more! This was a cold night in February so not very crowded. This was a single shot photo taken at a high ISO. Great street to photograph with all of the neon signs.
North Bay, Door County
Beautiful scenes like this have been created heavy snows in North Central United States. It takes heartier souls to get up to these areas to capture the beautiful scenery. -Photo by Mary Beth Engler
Door County Winter Wonderland
Heavy snows in Northern Wisconsin have created a “Winter Wonderland” this winter. My wife kept showing me dramatic photos from Minocqua and Door County hinting that she would like to visit the area. We discussed it with a friend who had to drive up to Baileys Harbor and, within a few days, the two wereContinue reading “Door County Winter Wonderland”
