Atheneum

In a contrast between the very old and the ultramodern, New Harmony’s Atheneum stands out as an architectural marvel. Doorway

Note that this doorway leads from the outside to the outside! This is another entrance into New Harmony’s Roofless Church. New Harmony is full of very interesting architectural structures both very old and very modern.

Roofless Church

The “Roofless Church” in the town of New Harmony, Indiana on the Wabash River. The actual “church” is the entire plaza-like area within the brick walls as well as an area for looking out over a field that floods each year at least once. McGulpin Point Lighthouse

Cast iron spiral stairs connecting the lighthouse sleeping quarters to light. McGulpin Point Light was constructed as a navigational aid through the Straits of Mackinac. The light began operation in 1869, making it one of the oldest surviving lighthouses in the Straits. The Five Mile Creek Schoolhouse, located west of Harbor Springs on M-119 near Five Mile Creek Road, operated as a one-room school from 1915-1952.
