Flora Borealis
https://greatrivers.smugmug.com/Galleries/Missouri-Botanical-Garden/i-GmkbqxT/A This is part of an interesting event at the Missouri Botanical Garden in St. Louis called Flora Borealis. The “Garden” installed laser light shows along their winding paths and added speakers for a sound experience along the paths. This is a flower projected onto the side of an old home on the grounds. Cold Night on Beale
Beale Street in Memphis. Home of BB King’s Blues Club, Tater Red’s Lucky Mojos, Pork with an attitude and much more! This was a cold night in February so not very crowded. This was a single shot photo taken at a high ISO. Great street to photograph with all of the neon signs.
Watching Dogs
It looks like this could be a scene in the Overlook Hotel in The Shining. However, this is a better known hotel in Memphis. This is the lobby of the famous Peabody Hotel. On the right is Elvis’ tailor and on the left is where the famous ducks swim in the fountain. This hallway isContinue reading “Watching Dogs”
Ha Ha Tonka Castle
These ruins are part of Ha Ha Tonka State Park near Camdenton, Missouri. Not really a castle but more of a mansion, this structure was built in 1904 by a wealthy St. Louisan. The owner did not live to see it completed. Over time it fell in disrepair and was eventually sold by his family.Continue reading “Ha Ha Tonka Castle”
Little Hills Cottage
This little B&B is trucked away on busy Main Street in St. Charles, MO. This area is a restored part of 19th Century Missouri and has a lot of historic buildings and shops. From here you can visit excellent restaurants, wineries, shops an more. Two blocks away you can view Missouri River.
Courthouse
This photo gives downtown more of a rural look thanks to new landscaping of the Gateway Arch Grounds. Part of a highway along the riverfront was covered over giving an uninterrupted view of the park from the Mississippi River to first line of buildings.
Loop Trolley 002
University City’s Loop Trolley. This is an antique streetcar recently installed in the the University City “Loop” area and terminates in Forest Park by the Missouri History Museum (in the background). This project was very expensive for the St. Louis area and it remains to be seen if it will payoff. The photo was processedContinue reading “Loop Trolley 002”

Mackinac Bridge
Driving across this bridge is not for the fainthearted. The bridge is over 26,000 feet long and if going, it is best to go to the bridge website for a weather report as the deck will sway in high wind. Since the deck is 200 ft above water chances for high wind are pretty good.Continue reading “Mackinac Bridge”
