Dashboard of a 1933 MG L Type Roadster. MG stood for Morris Garage and this is the classic style manufactured from the early 30’s through the early 50’s.
Archways at Missouri Botanical Garden’s Flora Borealis
Several times a year the Botanical Garden hosts these extensive displays. Flora Borealis is a dramatic light and sound show that winds around the grounds featuring laser lights and an extensive sound system. I had the opportunity to tour the grounds with other photographers and a special guide that showed us photographic opportunities. Sunflowers
Sunny Sunflowers always seem to make an interesting picture. I have been keeping a lookout for several years for a local patch and found these at Columbia Bottoms nature preserve in St. Louis County, MO. This is right at the confluence of the Mississippi and Missouri rivers which makes it a special area.
Puttin on the dog
This is part of the AKC Museum of the Dog in Queeny Park. If you look off to the right, you can see the constellation Canis Major (which contains the Dog Star, Sirius) above the main entrance to the museum. This day I was with a bunch Basset Hound lovers checking out the museum and and raising money for a Basset rescue group. This was the home of Edgar Queeny, son of the founder of Monsanto and who donated his property to St. Louis County for the creation of this fabulous park.
New Kiener Plaza
The new Kiener Plaza opens this space while giving the nice view of the Old Courthouse and Arch. It was pretty cold this day so there were not many people in the new area. This view gives a nice perspective of the leading lines of the pavement directing the view to the Arch.

Aston Martin DB2
1952 Aston Martin DB2 at St. Louis’ European Auto Show. This car was produced in the mid ’50s. and a predecessor to James Bond’s Aston Martin DB5. The DB5 was something of a failure because the rear end tended to rise at high speeds. The car was redesigned, tested in a wind tunnel called the DB6. Click here for more photos from the car show.

Beautiful Porsche 356 sitting by it’s self at St. Louis’ European Auto Show. This is a 1959 version. To see more from the car show, Click Here.
Yo Yo the Story Teller
This is Yo Yo the narrator for Circus Flora. Circus Flora is a one ring circus that annually tells a story through their acts. Here Yo Yo is watching The Flying Wallendas execute their high wire acts with precision. Yo Yo seems satisfied with the performance while the audience stares with amazement.
At a circus like this you have to have a pretty good camera. No flashes are allowed as one unexpected distraction could spell disaster for a high wire or trapeze artist. You will need a 50 – 150mm zoom lens on a camera that can handle high ISO such as 2000. Leave the flash at home and turn off any focus assist with a light.

Spring Time in the Japanese Garden
Dedicated in 1977, the 14-acre Japanese Garden, one of the largest in North America, represents an evolution of centuries of tradition and a multiplicity of distinctly Japanese cultural influences.
There are lots of photo opportunities in this area including several bridges, a dock, overlooks and, of course, the plants.
