As you drive through the back roads in Missouri, it is not unusual pass many horse farms. I visited this farm where they raise these beautiful Arabian horses. While I was watching them, they could not help showing off for me. As they pranceded around, they kept looking at me to make sure I wasContinue reading “Arabians”
A the moment, a quiet setting at one of St. Charles’ numerous duck hunting clubs. Earlier a storm came through cooling things off and soon after the sunsets the ducks will will be ready to roost and flock into this lake. Currently the lake is occupied by decoys tempting others to join them.
This is one of the many duck clubs along the Mississippi river. Missouri offers one of the best sites in the nation for duck hunting and St. Charles County is no exception. During the fall huge flocks of ducks fill the skies and fill the wetlands during feeding time. Walking the levies during these timesContinue reading “St. Charles Farm”
The last couple of posts have been about barns, so I thought I would post one of my favorite barn photos. This is on Interstate 39 just north of Bloomington, Illinois. As I was driving on 39, I kept seeing these interesting barns and finally pulled over to photograph one. The sky and clouds wereContinue reading “Wheatfield”
I liked this scene with the fall color and the lone horse in the pasture. Probably trying to get the last good grass of the season. This photo was taken with a 300mm lens as the horse was not very close. The lens condenses the distance and beyond the horse is a large pasture withContinue reading “Pasture”
A rural scene in St. Charles County. This area along the Mississippi River is lined with duck clubs where avid hunters come out in the Fall to try their hand at bagging a few Mallards. Here the hunter is arranging his decoys. Notice his blind is right in hes back yard.
Another beautiful fall sunset in the Midwest. This well and the stables beyond are part of an old club in St. Charles County. The property is along the Missouri River and served as a family farm in this rural section of Weldon Spring before World War II and before the bridge across the Missouri RiverContinue reading “Sunset over Strathalbyn”
Hidden along the ridges of Chesterfield Valley you will find these scenic farms. On many Sundays in the Fall and Winter I will go hunting with a pack of Basset Hounds. Traveling through the back woods of farms and parks, following the pack, you will come upon scenes like this and this is probably theContinue reading “Happy Fall!”
One of many old barns in Door County. For photographers, there are great lighthouse, seaside and roadside attractions to photograph. The interior of Door County is dotted with scenic farms that make great subjects. This old barn is in front of a sunflower field which makes it more interesting. If you are in the areaContinue reading “Old Barn”
This is just off highway 39, north of Bloomington, Illinois. Driving from Rockford to St. Louis, I kept seeing these very scenic old barns and finally found one that was easy to get to. The scene is great but the clouds make the photo!
