Sunset at the Hardy

There is always something interesting to find in Door County. This is the Hardy Gallery an art gallery on Eagle Bay located in an old boathouse displaying various types of art. To make things more interesting, the building is covered with graffiti (mostly peoples names). After viewing art, you can walk around the building andContinue reading “Sunset at the Hardy”

Last drop on Bond Falls

https://greatrivers.smugmug.com/Galleries/Northwoods/i-BKNPS2x/A Here is one more view of Bond Falls in Michigan’s UP. This is the final spectacular drop of the river after a number of minor falls. You can see these upper falls here. I like this scene because of the nice clouds and the contrast between the wispy water and the trees. You canContinue reading “Last drop on Bond Falls”

Gateway Arch

St. Louis’ Gateway Arch is a 630-foot monument in St. Louis, Missouri. Clad in stainless steel and built in the form of a weighted catenary arch, it is the world’s tallest arch, the tallest man-made monument in the Western Hemisphere, and Missouri’s tallest accessible building. The Arch gives St. Louis a stunning cityscape and is somethingContinue reading “Gateway Arch”

Old Barn

One of many old barns in Door County. For photographers, there are great lighthouse, seaside and roadside attractions to photograph. The interior of Door County is dotted with scenic farms that make great subjects. This old barn is in front of a sunflower field which makes it more interesting. If you are in the areaContinue reading “Old Barn”

Sunrise on North Bay

Sunrises and sunsets in the northern latitudes are spectacular due to the earth’s tilt on its axis. Also in the morning there is less wind on the lakes giving them a nice reflecting surface. North Bay on Lake Michigan in Door County is a small bay which has less wind on it making it prettyContinue reading “Sunrise on North Bay”

Black-Eyed Susans

I live in St. Louis Missouri where the hot summers and humidity take a toll on plants. Traveling “Up North”: Northern Wisconsin, Door County and Northern Michigan, the grass turns greener and the flowers brighter. The cooler, moderate climate in these areas make everything come to life. These areas are full for flowers and everyContinue reading “Black-Eyed Susans”

Easy Chair

The artwork of Off the Wheel Pottery of Egg Harbor, Wisconsin is not just contained within the buildings on the grounds. The buildings are interesting as well as this chair out front. The peninsula of Door County is an artists haven where even some of the roads are designed by artists.

Off The Wheel Pottery

This is a pottery shop in an old barn in Door County. In fact, it is spread through this barn and a number of sheds on this old farm site. My wife likes to come here and shop while I walk around photographing the grounds. The owner makes her own pottery and displays everything inContinue reading “Off The Wheel Pottery”
