Minocqua Boathouses

It may have been the railroad that brought the first tourists to the island city of Minocqua in the early 1900s, but it’s the boats that keep them coming back. Whether it’s a fishing adventure, a run on the boards (water skis, In Northwoods parlance), or a sunset cruise with refreshments, visitors expect to getContinue reading “Minocqua Boathouses”

Sunrise on North Bay

North Bay is a small, shallow body of water on the the northern tip of Door County, Wisconsin. The shallow water provides scenic texture to the beautiful scene looking out over Lake Michigan. This is a great area to watch sunrises and for kayaking.

Sandy Creek Bridge

Sandy Creek Covered Bridge boasts the picture-perfect appearance of an old red barn. It was one of six bridges built in 1872 to allow passage from the Jefferson County seat of Hillsboro to St. Louis. John H. Morse built Sandy Creek Covered Bridge using the Howe-truss design, named for William Howe. Howe patented his designContinue reading “Sandy Creek Bridge”

Lemonade Stand

This is one of my favorite photos from Historic St. Charles, Missouri. The main street of St. Charles is lined with the original 18th Century homes and storefronts, all well maintained. This is a little hidden area behind the shops and contains this welcoming patio and the entrance to a large antique shop.

Dogwood Canyon Waterfall

The trail through Dogwood Canyon, in Southwestern Missouri, is about bout three or four miles. Along the way you are treated to one waterfall after another. This part of a scenic area with large pools of water and  several waterfalls. There is a path behind this waterfall so you can get right up with it.Continue reading “Dogwood Canyon Waterfall”

Indian Cliff Falls

Part of Dogwood Canyon Nature Park. Located in Southwest Missouri near Branson  and Table Rock Lake, this place is for waterfall lovers. You can walk or take a tram to see the sights. However, I like to walk and take photos. If you are in the area, this is a place you have to seeContinue reading “Indian Cliff Falls”

Off The Wheel Pottery

This is a pottery shop in an old barn in Door County. In fact, it is spread through this barn and a number of sheds on this old farm site. My wife likes to come here and shop while I walk around photographing the grounds. The owner makes her own pottery and displays everything inContinue reading “Off The Wheel Pottery”

The New Kiener Plaza

The new Kiener Plaza used the same statue as the old plaza and everything else is new. This is a gathering place for sports rallies in St. Louis, particularly the Cardinals and Blues. I think the Stanley Cup passed through here more than once. This is a three shot HDR Photo taken about 20 minutesContinue reading “The New Kiener Plaza”

Bald Eagle

We are fortunate in the Midwest, particularly our Great Rivers area where the Mississippi, Illinois and Missouri rivers merge to have these beautiful birds living here. Unfortunately the best time to see them is during the very cold months of January and February. Another good place to spot these eagles is in the Wisconsin Northwoods.Continue reading “Bald Eagle”
