This is a favorite photo of mine from Big Cedar Lodge. This would have been just as the sun was setting over Table Rock Lake and this is the upper floor of Falls Lodge. This is a great place to visit with an incredible amount of things to do. Or you could just watch theContinue reading “Rockers”

View from Devil’s Pool
This is a view from the deck of Devil’s Pool restaurant at Big Cedar Lodge. Big Cedar is such an interesting place that you could not run out of things to photograph. It is an old estate with beautiful buildings and interesting architecture, restaurants, golf courses and more!
Equestrian Sunset
The fall sunsets seem to be extra brilliant and then minutes afterward become even more so. Here I was on the edge of this pasture to photograph the colors and the horses had to come over to see what I was doing.
Christmas time at Kirkwood Station
The Kirkwood station is a busy place with families traveling to meet with friends and family for the holidays. This photo was something of a surprise. When this was taken, the sun was down and it was dark outside. Three exposures were taken, one under exposed, one over exposed and one at standard exposure. TheseContinue reading “Christmas time at Kirkwood Station”
Gordon Lodge Pier
One of many iconic scenes in Door County. This is a pier at the entrance of North Bay near Baileys Harbor. The a beautiful fall day and sunset light gives a nice effect.
Fading of the Golden Hour
Last rays of sunshine transition from a colorful sunset to the blue sky of dusk. North Bay in Wisconsin shelters the waters of Lake Michigan so you have a slow rolling surf able to reflect the colorful sky. A special time to take photographs is during the “golden hour,” 30 minutes before and after sunset.Continue reading “Fading of the Golden Hour”
Top Deck
Top Deck Restaurant on the grounds of Gordon Lodge. When in Door County, Wisconsin, this should be a #1 spot for dinner. For being on the east side of the peninsula, it has wonderful view of the sunset. The evening we had dinner there, there was a continuous orange glow on the horizon. This isContinue reading “Top Deck”
International World War I Memorial
This is the opposite view of the previous photo. The memorial faces Kansas City’s Union Station and is on a steep hill so as you walk towards the memorial you can turn around for a spectacular view of the KC skyline. This is a hand held, three shot photo taken while walking up the hill.Continue reading “International World War I Memorial”
St. Charles County
This is an area in St. Charles County, Missouri, overlooking the Missouri River. In the Fall and Winter, you will usually find a pack of Basset Hounds in the area practicing their tracking skills. This little girl is on her way to help with the hounds.
Morning in Door County
A quiet morning on Lake Michigan. This bay is shallow so there is limited boat traffic and sitting on the dock watching the sunrise is a must for this area. Also this is a bay which keeps the waves down. This is a three shot HDR photo taken on a tripod. See my HDR tutorialContinue reading “Morning in Door County”
